The Student Committee welcomed students to “Pirate Night” at the PFA with free eye patches at the entrance to fully enjoy the screening of E.R. Nelson’s indie hit Pirates of the Great Salt Lake. The event was a welcome reprieve from studying for midterms and writing papers. Outside, the Committee served hot cider and various munchies to the crowd of eye-patched moviegoers.

Part of the PFA series Arrr Matey: Pirates and Piracy the film featured two disenchanted twenty-something suburbanites who venture into the Great Salt Lake to fulfill their somewhat misplaced dreams of becoming pirates. Called a “laugh-out-loud funny comedy-action hybrid of Cervantes' Don Quixote and Johnny Depp's Pirates of the Caribbean” at Indiefest 2006, the film delighted students with its spot on satire of youthful ennui and far-fetched dreams.
