On Tuesday, October 23, 2007, over 600 students crowded the galleries of the Berkeley Art Museum for the Student opening of the exhibition One Way or Another: Asian American Art Now. Partygoers viewed and debated the works of the contemporary Asian-American Art Exhibit featuring young artists such as Xavier Cha, Mike Arcega, and Ala Ebtekar. From fully interactive installations to a trash can sculpted from canvases, students were intrigued by how each artist commented on the Asian American identity.

In the main lobby students grooved to the mixes of DJ Sass Appeal, smiled for Polaroid pictures at the photobooth featuring a dancing shrimp costume, and lined up for heart-shaped BAM/PFA tattoos. Complementary beer, naan, and homemade yogurt dip, peach chutney, and iced green tea fueled students into an impromptu dance party in front of the DJ's table.  Students left with fortune cookies featuring customized messages, Chinese finger traps, the hopes of winning a shrimp shirt or Hello Kitty memorabilia, and most importantly, an another unforgettable experience at BAM.
