The BAM/PFA Student Committee's event "Blow Up" provided an educational and intimate evening of architectural exploration inspired by the Berkeley Art Museum's newest exhibition, Ant Farm 1968–1978. With a theme of inflatable structures and a table full of desserts, Blow Up kicked off the night with an informal lecture by artist Chip Lord on Ant Farm's experience building inflatables. Following the talk, fellow Ant Farmer Curtis Schreier joined Lord to oversee the Inflato-Object contest.
Armed with plastic sheeting, tape, and a sketch pad, eight student teams flexed their architectonic muscles in building creative and innovative inflatable structures. The night's winners tied for first place with pieces entitled Double Helix and Inflated Ego.
